The drive worked fine all night, which is the longest its ever gone for. i have had problems with them from the beginning at different times. But remember - experiment at your own risk! Well I just unplugged the light on mine and got my data back after I/O errors. I have had no problems with this drive since unplugging the light as mentioned above. But, USB 2.0 more or less put an end to that. Some eSATA cards block the drive’s identity and prevent it from working.

I don't know if you've tried this, or if it would even help, but changing the computers standby characteristics is what I would attempt to maintain data contact with the drive. Try 10 minutes later and everything is back to normal - until the next ‘write error'. My primary use for this drive is storage for video files as I do a lot of work with film. Having the air flow underneath seems to have solved the problem because it has been working great ever since.
