If so, you'll need to restart the daemon for any changes to Xresources to get picked up (after running xrdb -merge, of course). I occasionally use urxvt and have the X configuration for it set in ~/.Xresources. For .Xresources to be read, you have to load it with xrdb, technically, you can name the file whatever you want.
