Been fiddling with the system all day and looking up other people's ways of not curing it and some (a couple of folks) who cured it.

A bit of ferreting around I discovered the Path to the executable [SearchIndexer.exe / Embedding] that was supposed to be in C:\Windows\System32\ showed the program was gone! With so many complicated fixes and solutions why didnt microsoft know about this. Windows Indexing and Search were both ticked as ON yet the Advanced settings and tests seemed to think it was not started and switched off. My search is working better than ever before :).
